Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine
Foncière des Régions sponsors the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine
As a real-estate operator and long-term investor, Foncière des Régions’ core focus is architecture. And as owner and manager of extensive business real-estate assets in France and Italy, we have our finger on the pulse of a fast-changing world, helping to shape today’s cities and those of the future.
Foncière des Régions holds a particular interest in contemporary architecture and its integration into the urban landscape as well as emerging architectural trends. This is borne out by the projects we invest in – like EuromedCenter in Marseille, of which Massimiliano Fuksas is architect and town planner, Metz Amphithéâtre with architect Nicolas Michelin, and the redevelopment of the Tour CB 21 (ex Gan) at Paris-La Défense by architect Jean Mas (Atelier 234).
To demonstrate its commitment to architecture in a tangible way, Foncière des Régions has chosen to support an international cultural centre for architecture – the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine – situated in the Palais de Chaillot in Paris. This move demonstrates our desire to put architectural quality at the centre of the real-estate projects we develop.
To launch its sponsorship, Foncière des Régions is lending its support to two exhibitions at the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine: the exhibition for the Mies Van Der Rohe Prize, the most prestigious European contemporary architecture prize, which opened in October 2007 and will run until February 2008, and the exhibition for the French ministry of culture and communication’s award programme Nouveaux Albums des Jeunes Architectes et Paysagistes (NAJAP) which will run from October 2008 to January 2009. Read press release 7 october 2008.
Chairman of the Management Board Christophe Kullmann says: “Foncière des Régions wanted to link up with these two exhibitions which are a perfect reflection of the company’s aims and aspirations: on the one hand promoting visionary contemporary architecture with buildings that fit in with their environment, and on the other hand looking to the future and envisaging what tomorrow’s cities will look like through the ideas of today’s young architects.”

One "Cité", three departments
- It is firstly a museum composed of three galleries stretching a link between Past, Present and Future. Among them, the famous Gallery of mouldings initiated by Viollet-le-Duc and the Gallery of wall paintings created in 1937.
- It is also a school, founded in 1897. L’Ecole de Chaillot turns out architects specialized in monumental, urban and environmental restoration.
- It is finally an architectural centre : debates, seminars, reflections, prospective… the Cité is at the cutting edge of contemporary architectural thinking.
